The Gethsemane Prayer by Emma Orji

VERSE 1
At Gethsemane, in the dark garden
Jesus prayed with a sorrowful heart
beseeching God His Father
that the cup of suffering
may pass from Him.

REFRAIN
Father, if you will (x2)
let this cup pass away
but, let not my will be done
Father, let your will be done.

VERSE 2
His disciples, Peter, James and John
were sleeping, unaware of the strife.
Jesus their Lord was in anguish
sweat like blood was all over Him.

VERSE 3
At Gethsemane, lies a lesson
sacrifice, love submission to God's will
unto God's will, we must submit
for in Him, we live and move.
